Our Story

Mountain Hut Myoko for us is a dream turned reality. There is just something about this place that really gets under your skin. The staggering amount of Japan’s famous bottomless powder seems an obvious attraction especially to a few seasoned bums like ourselves, but honestly, it’s something more than that.
Our adventure began many seasons ago in Hokkaido and after chasing winter around the world we found ourselves drift back to Japan. We believe that both equal parts luck and determination got us to where we are now.

We bring our own style and vibe to this epic little lodge tucked up in the mountains and aim to make sure everyone who stays with us at Mountain Hut Myoko experiences a winter holiday they will never forget.

PERFECT LODGE IN THE SNOW!
Laine, Tasmania, Australia
Stayed here for 7 nights for a snowboarding trip. Room was great, super comfy beds, communal spaces were sweet with some of different areas to socialise or just chill. Awesome feature to be so close to Ikenotaira ski resort, as we could just walk there and ride for a few hours, and then come back for a quick snack before heading back up. Had great onsen styled baths which were perfect for soaking the legs after a day in the snow! The hosts, Tayler and Neil were really knowledgable about local areas and happy to give advice on places to go. They took us to the supermarket a few times when we needed to go and gave us lifts to and from the train station. Can highly recommend staying at this rad little place!!

Amazing little hut run by amazing people
Eugenia L, Singapore
Had a great trip to Myoko in end Dec, made special by Neil and Tayler despite the lack of powder (just our luck!). They're super friendly peeps and made our entire stay very comfortable. We even had to call Neil one night to help us because our car got caught in snow The hut is very cosy and perfect for everyone. We saw families, couples, individuals there during our stay. We stayed in the room with an ensuite toilet but truth be told, the shared toilets are so nice that we'd go back and stay without the ensuite toilet! Looking forward to returning & hopefully get some Myoko famous yuki this time

Awesome!
Aaron, Australia
I originally intended to stay at Mountain Hut for several nights but ended up extending for another couple of weeks... It was that amazing!! The hosts Neil & Tayler were incredible, going above and beyond to make sure guests were enjoying their stay. Beds were super comfy, everything was super clean, and the lounge areas super super cozy. Great for either chilling out or having some drinks! Close proximity to Ike ski resort was a bonus. 11/10 can't recommend enough 🙂

Katrin, Perth, Australia
Perfect Location, access to 5 resorts to ride, hike out & ride back to front door, rooms are spacious, clean, quality linen, lot’s of hot water, kitchen got everything you need, The HOT Breakfast is made with lot’s of love. Daily morning catch up on best place to ride and local inside info is just one of the many things Taylor and Neil will provide.

MOST INCREDIBLE PLACE!
Sasha, Queensland, Australia
I could not recommend Mountain Hut enough! Tay & Neil are the most beautiful & caring souls and are just absolute legends! The facilities are incredible and always so neat, tidy & warm with heaps of space. The snow in Myoko is amazing and you pretty much have all the powder to yourselves here. Ikenotaira is only a 5min walk from your door (so you can snowboard/ski in powder all day & board back to the front door). Breakfast is amazing (Neil is a gun in the kitchen), and there’s plenty of space to cook up a storm in the kitchen/store your food. The bathrooms also have the best Japanese style baths! The location is amazing and only a small drive to local shops. I can’t wait to visit again (possibly for an entire season!)

HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP
Lachlan, Melbourne, Australia
Our stay at mountain hut was fantastic, the vibe has a great mix of a homely lodge feel coupled with a social dorm. The twin room my girlfriend and I stayed in was spacious and comfortable with a large comfy bed and a great view. The location is right near the Ike onsen mountain slopes which you can literally nowboard back to the lodge from. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and varied, over our stay we had scrambled eggs with toast, french toast (our favourite) and pancakes. However the best part of our stay was the hospitality from Neil and Taylah, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.

An epic trip to Myoko
Angus, New Zealand
We had an amazing week at Mountain Hut Myoko, after a shaky start to the season with marginal snow and warm temps, the Japow finally arrived just in time for a couple of epic powder days. Tayler, Neil, Kate, Kai and Arthur were exceptional hosts and treated us like family. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and experienced all there was to experience in the area. The hut is cosy, warm and very homely, with likeminded skiers and boarders sharing stories over a beer in the evenings. Our room was tidy and very comfortable, best futon style duvet I've ever slept in! Options for dinner were around a 10 min walk away, with tasty ramen and all the best Japanese dishes just down the road. 3 different Onsen were also nearby, perfect to soak in after a big day up on the hill. Overall it was heartwarming to stay with such passionate people who genuinely want every guest to have the most memorable experience skiing/riding in Japan. We'll be back!

These guys are legends!!
Eric, Canada
My father, brother and I recently completed a week's stay at the MHM - and what a treat it was! Neil and Tayler are just awesome hosts. Full stop. They go out of their way to accommodate guests and ensure everyone is taken care of. While the snow wasn't ideal at the start of our stay Neil made sure to assist guests with getting to the best snow that was available. I rarely leave reviews or buy souvenirs but I'm happy to promote the MHM and I wear a tshirt I bought from them with pride! Great work Neil and Tayler!
